Head of Lending

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, implement and direct the organization’s operational and financial performance.
  • Act as a strategic partner by developing and implementing the company’s strategic plans and programs.
  • Analyse and make recommendation on the impact of long-range growth initiatives, planning, and introduction of new strategies and implementation of policies, processes and procedures following regulatory requirements.
  • Develop credibility and authority for the financial leadership and collaborate with CFO in providing accurate analysis of KPIs, budgets, reports and financial trends and operational procedures in order to assist the BOD, CFO and senior executive team.
  • Create, improve, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization that will improve operational and financial effectiveness of the company.
  • Develop and Implement a Marketing Plan to market the company’s products.
  • Drive Merchant onboarding
  • Ensure that the company is compliant with all related laws, regulations and guidelines at all time.
  • Communicate effectively and establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board of Directors as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
  • Provide expert financial guidance and advice to others within executive leadership.
  • Improve the planning and budgeting process on a continual basis by educating key employees and members of corporate leadership.
  • Provide strategic input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; specifically relating to the evaluation of potential mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships and capital raising initiatives
  • Optimize the Credit finance business relationships with all stakeholders and work closely with executive management to foster and grow strategic financial partnerships.
  • Work with finance team to develop a solid cash flow projection and reporting mechanism, which includes setting a minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and consultant offering expert advice on contracts, negotiations or business deals that the organisation may enter into.
  • Evaluate company’s financial, operational, and sales and marketing structures to plan forcontinual improvements and a continual increase of operating efficiencies.
  • Involve and collaborate with CFO on financial and non-financial reporting requirements such as monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, statutory returns, and regulatory returns to FSC and Bank of Mauritius.
  • Mentor and interact with members of staff at all levels to foster growth and encourage development among senior executive team and all members of staff.
  • Identify and support training initiatives for staff.
  • Attend workshops, lectures and training sessions whenever possible.
  • Oversee and participle in Performance Management including setting up KPIs for staff and ensure proper accountability and documentation.
  • Ensure all health and safety, as well as company regulations are followed by staff at all times.
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness of and efficiency of the supporting departments (Human Resources, Sales, Finance and Marketing) through the coordination and communication between the business functions.
  • Support and source marketing opportunities.
  • Prepare, review and pool resources with the management team to review business development, upcoming marketing opportunities and strategies to increase workflow and productivity.
  • Attend industry conferences, meetings and training seminars for continual growth and development of network.
  • Identify, incorporate and manage industry “best in class” services, trends and practices.
  • Other cognate duties.

Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge and experience in Retail Lending Products (5+ years)
  • Very strong entrepreneurial drive
  • Experience/understanding in arranging credit portfolio funding deals desirable
  • Degree in Finance/Banking or equivalent
  • Extensive experience building and managing credit decisioning/risk models
  • Deep understanding of the relevant local lending regulations
  • Excellent project management skill
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience interacting with Regulators
  • Ability to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to recruit and lead a team
  • Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically
